Makelia Brown

Two Jefferson adults were arrested following an alleged drug-related incident.

According to court documents, an investigation began with the Jefferson Police Department following a traffic stop on January 17th. During the stop, the officer knew that the passenger, 21-year-old Makelia Brown was involved in distributing marijuana with 18-year-old Harvick Beals. The officer asked Brown if she would give consent to the officer searching her apartment.

Brown gave permission to do so and the officer, along with a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy searched the residence in the 100 block of North Grimmell Road. Drug-related items were seized including scales, grinders, green leafy substance and other drug paraphernalia. Brown also showed authorities a safe that had $220 in cash and 31 grams of marijuana. Brown said she shared the apartment with Beals.

Jefferson Police Chief Mark Clouse tells Raccoon Valley Radio the seized items were sent to the Division of Criminal Investigation Laboratory. The results recently came back positive for marijuana and an arrest warrant was issued last week.

Brown and Beals were arrested this past Saturday on charges of Class D Felonies for intent to deliver, serious misdemeanors for possession of marijuana and simple misdemeanors for possession of drug paraphernalia. The two were then booked into the Greene County Jail.
