Wednesday, May 11th

7:21am: Kevin Finch requested a Welfare Check on a subject in the 700 Block of West Sunset Road. The officer spoke to the subject, who advised they were fine.

10:18am: The GCMC ER advised an officer of a Dog Bite. The subject came to ER with the condition. The officer contacted the subject involved and learned the bite had occurred in Sac City on 05/09/2022. No action was required by the officer since it did not occur in Jefferson.

10:41am: A Traffic Stop at Grimmell and Central resulted in Jackie Cram of Glidden being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

10:42am: A caller advised of a Parking Complaint in the 200 Block of West Washington Street. The officer did not locate an issue in the area.

10:50am: An officer investigated an accident at North Oak and West State Streets. A 2009 Toyota Camry, owned and operated by Carol Delp of Jefferson, was southbound on North Oak. Delp failed to yield at the posted Yield Sign at the intersection with West State Street and struck a westbound vehicle. The 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan was owned by Genesis Development and operated by Roxanne Tingle of Jefferson. Each vehicle had a reported $1500.00 in damages. Delp was cited for, “Fail to Yield Upon Entering Through Highway.”

11:12am: A Traffic Stop at Grimmell and Central resulted in Diane Liston of Grundy Center being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

1:10pm: An officer assisted a motorist, who was experiencing mechanical issues, near Elm and 220th Streets.

1:46pm: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the Park Place Condo’s.

1:55pm: An officer issued a Parking Violation Notice in the 300 Block of West Adams Street for, “Truck/RV/Trailer Parking Violation.”

2:55pm: A Traffic Stop at Grimmell and Central resulted in Daniel Drake of Halbur being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

2:56pm: An officer was called to 1001 East Russell Street for a Civil Property Line Dispute. Both parties were advised to speak with an attorney about the issue.

7:13pm: A subject walking in the area of Chestnut and Vest Streets flagged an officer down and advised the scoreboard had been left on at the high school football field. The school was contacted about the issue.

7:47pm: Rebecca Schubert reported a neighbor was refusing to return her cell phone case to her at 1000 West Adams Street. The officers were able to retrieve and return her phone case to her.

9:14pm: An officer assisted with a Medical Call at 1409 North Elm Street.

9:30pm: A Traffic Stop in the 600 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Brayton Crouse of Dana being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

Thursday, May 12th

1:42am: An officer located an Open Door at 1016 East Lincoln Way Street. The business was secured by the officer.

5:12am: An officer was assisted by the Jefferson Fire Department and the sheriff’s office with a One Vehicle Personal Injury Accident on 220th Street, near M Avenue. A 2003 Nissan Altima, owned by Amiclar Ulises Navarro Villalta of Des Moines and operated by Javier Ramirez of Des Moines, was eastbound on 220th. The driver advised he swerved to avoid colliding with a deer in the roadway and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle entered the north ditch and came to rest in a field. One passenger in the vehicle suffered injuries and was transported to ER by GC Ambulance. He was later flown to a Des Moines hospital by Life Flight. One other passenger and the driver were not injured. The vehicle was a total loss. Ramirez was cited for, “Fail to Provide Proof of Financial Liability – Accident.” 

9:33am: An officer responded to an Alarm Activation at 401 South Wilson Ave. The property was secure, and a key holder was contacted.

9:39am: Officers assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 600 Block of South Vine Street.

1:29pm: An officer assisted a motorist with mechanical issues in the 1800 Block of North Mulberry Street.

1:47pm: A Traffic Stop at Grimmell and Central resulted in Caitlyn Day of Paton being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

2:23pm: Kelly O’Dell requested a Welfare Check on a female in the 1000 Block of West Adams Street. The officers learned the subject was fine.

3:20pm: Mark Cranston reported a slow-moving vehicle with the flashers on heading south into Jefferson on Hwy. 4. The officer stopped and spoke to the driver, who advised she was having vehicle trouble, but almost home.

3:18pm: Carroll County requested an officer to check for a Jefferson female, who had an outstanding Arrest Warrant for, “False Information in Acquiring a Weapon.” The officer arrested Nicole Andrea Murphy, 47 of Jefferson on the Carroll County Warrant.

4:01pm: Allie Smith reported a Stray Dog in her yard at 303 North Maple Street. The officer placed the dog in the Animal Holding Facility.

4:21pm: A caller requested a Welfare Check on a subject in the 700 Block of West Sunset Road. The officer spoke to the subject, who stated he was fine.

4:26pm: Marcus Long reported a Scam on his Xbox. He did not incur a loss.

7:35pm: An officer assisted the Jefferson Fire Department with a small fire at 1107 North Maple Street. The homeowner had extinguished the fire and the fire department checked to make sure it was out.
