As National Nurses Week continues the Adair County Health Center in Greenfield wants to recognize all their hard working nurses.

Interim Chief Clinical Officer Bonnie Kester says nurses have been the most trusted and valuable profession in the world for a while now.

Because we basically are the patient’s eyes and ears. We’re patient advocates. So we’re here to be their voice to their families, to the providers that come in and are around them and give us orders to take care of them. So we are a really invaluable resource to the patients that we care for.”

She explains that nurses have had to make adjustments to how they provide care due to the pandemic and it has added stress.

“It just takes that much longer to put on all the PPE(Personal Protective Equipment) and take off all the PPE and make sure we are doing everything that is according to policy and procedure.”

National Nurses Week is May 6th-12th.
