The Greene County soccer teams face Heart of Iowa Activities Conference opponent Nevada today. The boys play in Grand Junction and the girls face off in Nevada at the S.C.O.R.E. Complex.

Coach Carl Behne’s boys’ team is at home in Grand Junction with the varsity teams playing at 5:30 p.m. It’s Senior Night for the Rams and also the final home match for Greene County. The Rams are 6-4 while Nevada is 11-5 and this will be the first meeting this season between the two. Both have been assigned to Class 1A Substate 8 for the postseason, so it’s possible they could meet again later this month.

Coach Maribel Hernandez’ girls’ team ended a long losing streak on Saturday with a 1-0 win at Creston vs. the host Panthers. The win was the first for Coach Hernandez as a head coach and the Rams will take a 1-8 mark to Nevada to face a top 10 ranked Cubs’ team. The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released its girls’ soccer postseason pairings and Greene County goes on the road to face the combined West Central Valley/Nodaway Valley team on May 16 at 6 p.m. to open Class 1A Region 3 play.
