After close to two years from breaking ground for the new Guthrie County Law Enforcement Center, the project is getting closer to being operational. 

Samuels Group Senior Superintendent Cody Lawrence says the end of June is the time they’d like to have everyone begin working in the jail. He adds that there are still a few items on the punch list to get done that include carpeting, programming of all the jail systems, final paint along with installing an elevator.  Lawrence says this new law enforcement center will benefit the county in many ways. 

“Not only for the jail itself, but we can also bring in prisoners from other counties that are overwhelmed, and we can bring in more money for the county that sells to pay off the bond or other items.”

He says a difficult part of the project has been working around the supply chain issues and he mentions that even getting little items like conduits have been tough. The jail will add 28 beds and 14,800 square feet of space.
