Greene County High School’s final two Drake Relays events are today. Both the girls and boys qualified their 4 x 100 meter relays for the preliminaries this morning at Drake Stadium. The prelims for girls begin at 9:15 a.m. and the boys’ heat races start at 9:45 a.m. Drake accepts 96 4 x 100’s and only the fastest eight advance to the Saturday afternoon final.
Coach Derek Merk’s qualified with four juniors in Olivia Shannon, Katrina Heupel, Natalie Heupel, and Bella Schroeder. Coach Chad Morton’s boys have freshmen Camden Strennen, seniors Jackson Morton and Bryce Stalder, and junior Jesse Miller.
Morton finished seventh in the boys’ 110 meter high hurdles on Friday morning at the Drake Relays in 14.96 seconds. He was the second fastest qualifier from the 32 person preliminary field at 14.60 seconds, a personal best.
