The Guthrie Center School District is looking to provide their students with new technology.
The Guthrie Center School Board approved at their meeting in late March the purchase of 50 iPads with protective cases for the amount of $14,950 for the elementary students. Superintendent Dennis McClain says they have iPads currently at the elementary school but the devices are outdated. He says that this technology makes learning more efficient and saves school materials.
“They do their practice on the iPads rather than on paper and then the teachers just get the results and see how they did on them. So it saves some of that back and forth and it does save some paper and supplies and things like that.”
McClain says only educational items are allowed on the iPads for students to use and they will not be able to bring the device home. He says the Resource Enhancement and Protection Grant will pay for the devices and hopes the iPads come in as soon as possible.
