A Grand Junction man was recently sentenced to jail for a domestic abuse incident.

According to court documents, 35-year-old James Harris pled guilty to a lesser charge of an aggravated misdemeanor for his second offense for domestic abuse assault. He was sentenced to 30 days in the Greene County Jail.

The charge stemmed from an incident on March 20, 2021. A Greene County Deputy responded to a call at 8:31am in the 800 block of Hager Street in Grand Junction. A physical altercation occurred between Harris and the victim, with the victim suffering injuries. 

Court documents show Harris was originally charged with a felony for his third or subsequent offense for domestic abuse assault, but the charge was amended to a misdemeanor. Harris was also ordered to pay victim restitution.
