There is an upcoming community forum in Adel that will offer more information on a new youth sports program.
There will be a community forum from 6:30-7:30 p.m. May 4th in the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School Auditorium to discuss the new youth boys basketball program that will work with the girls Tiger Athletic Club program. The forum will feature Coach Trevor Mikelson who will be available to answer questions from the community.
“It’s going to be a brief presentation from myself just kind of outlining what it looks like. So, how we have it broken up for different age groups, what they can expect in terms of the calendar year, when registration is open, when we will have practices, when we will have tournaments, some of the costs. So, it’ll be a presentation introducing anyone that doesn’t know about the TAC (Tiger Athletic Club) program what they can expect with the boys side of things.”
Mickelson tells Raccoon Valley Radio the new youth boys basketball program will be underneath the same umbrella as the Tiger Athletic Club youth girls basketball program. Mickelson says he worked closely with both the vice president and president of TAC as well as Coach Jacob Cleveland to help get the boys program going.
“They’ve been a huge help and been our biggest supporters in trying to get a boys program up and running. We just thought bringing both of these together will strengthen both of our programs. It’ll be kind of a one stop shop for parents. So many parents have young boys and girls that want to play basketball and so rather than having two different entities doing our own thing hopefully we can kind of streamline some of the registration and some of the information process.”
