Greene County Medical Center has changed its mask mandate policy.
Masking requirements will follow the county’s covid transmission rates with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Iowa Department of Public Health and Greene County Public Health. When the transmission rate is low or medium, masks are required for patients or visitors that have respiratory symptoms, been exposed to covid or tested positive for the virus in the past ten days. Masks are optional for patients and visitors in patient and exam rooms, along with waiting areas and hallways. Masks will be required in Long Term Care.
If the transmission rate is high, masks will be required for all patients, visitors and team members both in the medical center and Long Term Care. There may be instances where the medical center will elevate the masking requirements based on the number of increased covid cases.
Additionally, masks will continue to be required with medical center staff that provide direct care to patients regardless of the transmission rate. Those staff that were exempt from the medical center’s vaccination requirements, unvaccinated, must remain masked with face shields.
