A local organization recently made its donation toward the Greene County Animal Shelter project.
The Jefferson Rotary Club gave $50,000 for a dog park to be built near the new animal shelter in the Greene County Development Corporation West Business Park along Highway 4. Funding for the Rotary Centennial Dog Park is from the Rotary’s annual banquet and auction that is held every November.
Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer says so far the construction of the facility is on schedule and there hasn’t been any delays.
“Projection for the building to actually be delivered was actually a little bit early, was surprising. The date they (the contractor) gave us, we were all, kind of set in today’s supply chain issues that it could’ve been months longer, so pleasantly surprised that we got that building in so quick. In addition, we’re starting to order all of the equipment on the inside too. Looking at the lead times on that and want to make sure that that equipment is there and available to install as soon as the building is done.”
Palmer is hoping to have the project done by late September and the facility open by October.
