The beginning of the 2022 track and field season has been good for the Panorama Panthers girls track and field team and some runners have already qualified for the Drake Relays.

The Drake Relays are coming up quickly and Iowa High School track and field athletes are competing for good times to guarantee their participation in the upcoming event by surpassing the Blue Standards which are the qualifying marks for guaranteed acceptance to the relays.

During the recent Earlham coed meet sophomore Jaidyn Sellers finished with a time of 11.96 in the 100 meter dash not only setting a new school record but also beating the qualifying time of 12.60 to be guaranteed acceptance into the Drake Relays. Sellers also set a new school record in the 800 meter run with 2:18:10 which also qualified her for the Drake Relays in that event. Sellers also qualified for the relays in the high jump.

Last year Sellers was a state champion in Class 2A for the 100 meter dash finishing with a time of 12.58 and for Sellers she now has a 100 meter dash under 12 seconds under her belt which should spell a potential for another state champion finish this year.

Also, the 4×100 runners of Zoey Hambleton, Payton Beckman, Grace Webner and Jaidyn Sellers ran a time of 52.17 which should qualify them for the relays as well as the Panthers girls look to continue their strong start to the season.

The final day for entries for high schools will be April 22nd and the final high school start lists will be published by noon on April 23rd.
