West Central Valley High School had an assembly Monday morning that involved recreating a nightmare scene with many law enforcement and emergency personnel present.
West Central Valley’s School Resource Officer Katie Guisinger says the scenario they recreated included four student actors in two vehicles and one drunk driver that caused an accident which resulted in fatal and critical and fatal injuries. Guisinger says the timing of the mock accident is related to having prom this weekend for the high school. She describes the message they wanted to deliver.
“There’s some severe and real life consequences, and some of them are life altering or life ending. So we just want them to, at the end of the day, just make good and safe choices.”
Guisinger says after the mock accident they had other activities related to careless driving, a video that depicted the aftermath of what an accident looks like and a story from a teacher’s first hand experience of being in an accident. Guisinger thanked the following departments that made the mock accident happen include Stuart Police, Stuart, Dexter, Menlo Fire, Redfield and Rescue Departments.
