Greene County was among the teams in Panora on Tuesday for the Kip Janvrin Coed Track & Field Invitational hosted by Panorama. Coach Chad Morton’s boys were fourth among 11 teams and Coach Derek Merk’s girls placed seventh in a field of 11. This was the second outdoor meet for the Greene County team and the first coed event this season.
ACGC won the boys’ team title with 139 points and Mount Ayr took the girls’ crown by scoring 94 points. The Rams had 75 points on the boys’ side and 53 in the girls.
Greene County won one girls event when junior Olivia Shannon was first in the long jump at 15′ 1-1/2″. Shannon, and three other juniors in Kamryn Sanders, Bella Schroeder, and Natalie Heupel, placed second in the 4 x 200 meter relay in 1:56.11. Junior Emma Hoyle was second in the discus throw at 89′ 3″ and freshman Payton Kokenge was third in the high jump at 4′ 10″.
The Greene County boys had victories from senior Jackson Morton in the 110 meter high hurdles in :15.30, and in the high jump with senior Nate Black at 5′ 10″. The Rams were second in the 4 x 200 meter relay in 1:37.34 with senior Daniel Rivera, freshman Camden Strennen, Black, and junior Jesse Miller. Also second was the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3:37.19 with Strenned Morton, senior Bryce Stalder, and Miller. Stalder was second in the long jump at 20′ 9-3/4″, and the shuttle hurdle relay was second in 1:04.37 with senior Landyn Venteicher, Stalder, Black, and Morton.
The Rams are scheduled to compete tomorrow at Van Meter’s co-ed meet.
