For one local organization, today marks the time for the transition into warmer weather hours in Dallas County.
Dallas County Conservation Board Outreach Coordinator Sarah Gilchrist says today marks their transition into a more busy season. Gilchrist says reservations for things such as camping spots or cabins begin to pick up even more and people should continue to schedule their reservations.
“That means that depots will be reopened, that means everything will be available for rent and that’s kind of our kick off to our busy season. So, that’s exciting to get back out there and get a little bit more active with the public.”
Dallas County Conservation Director Mike Wallace tells Raccoon Valley Radio not only do outdoor activities such as bicycling or camping begin to pick up during the warmer months, activities with Dallas County Conservation Board naturalists begin to pick up too.
“We are about ready to start to be real busy with our naturalists. Spring field trips from schools will be sending students out to our various parks and our naturalists will be giving outdoor environmental education programming to them. So, the month of April, May and June our naturalists are really, really busy doing lots of programming.
