A reminder that tonight is the second annual Community Appreciation Night in Jefferson.
Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community will host the event at Greene County High School beginning at 6:30pm with appetizers served by Ram Restaurant. Organization Team Co-Chair Susan Thiel says the food includes bacon wrapped little smokies, veggie and meat pinwheels, artichoke dipped pies, and mini chicken fried and pulled pork sandwiches.
The program begins at 7pm with Jefferson Matters Board President Jamie Daubendiek followed by Chuck Offenburger with the Greene County Diversity Project, Peg Raney with Why Not Us and The Centennial building, Jacque Andrew on the Greene County Early Learning Center building project and Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer will provide updates on the downtown building renovations, as well as other projects in the city.
Thiel comments on the variety of presentations that people will hear.
“This is such a vibrant area and there’s so much going on. But I’ve lived here for nine years myself and I think every year we build on the progress that we’ve made so far. This year just feels like one more step forward for the community. So it’s extremely exciting and the great part is each one of these speakers has so much passion.”
The event wraps up with the announcement of the 2021 Above and Beyond and the Call (ABC) Award winner for their volunteerism efforts. The dessert reception will follow. The Community Appreciation Night is free and open to the public.
