
A Dallas Center man was arrested late Sunday after being shot multiple times trying to allegedly break into a rural Perry home.
According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, the Sheriff’s Office, the Perry Police Department and Dallas County EMS responded to the incident at 10:48pm at 19408 123rd Place in rural Perry. Authorities located 22-year-old Hunter Keasey of Dallas Center with multiple gunshot wounds. During the investigation, it was quickly determined that Keasey was trying to break into the residence when the homeowner fired multiple rounds at Keasey, who was trying to defend his family and home.
Keasey was airlifted to Methodist Hospital, where he was latered treated for his non-life threatening injuries and then released. Keasey was arrested and charged with a Class D Felony for third degree burglary, a serious misdemeanor for fourth degree criminal mischief and a simple misdemeanor for simple assault. He was booked into the Dallas County Jail.
The residents of the rural Perry home are cooperating with the investigation and made the initial 911 call. Authorities don’t believe there is a relationship between the Keasey and those who live at the rural Perry home. It also appears to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
