The Perry Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting and after hours event at for a new local business in Perry Wednesday.
The Chamber held the ribbon cutting at Gamble Block Brewery which is right next door to the Tin Pig Tavern and both businesses are owned by the same people. Co-Owner David Sheffer says the business is a venture he hasn’t done before.
“We haven’t done it before so it’s my mom and I that brew everything. She knows all the recipes and the numbers and the science stuff behind it and I just know how to run the equipment. It’s new and really exciting to try and figure out, we have always wanted to open a brewery.”
Sheffer tells Raccoon Valley Radio it’s a good feeling to have both the Tin Pig Tavern and Gamble Block Brewery open after the Tin Pig Tavern spent some time closed due to the derecho in August of 2020 as well as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“It’s really fun to be back open, see a lot of people I haven’t seen. A lot of our regulars I haven’t seen since we closed.”
The Gamble Block Brewery is located at 1203 2nd Street in Perry.
