Dallas Center – Grimes soccer came up one game short of a state final from a year ago on the boys side, and will move to find a way to get another crack at a title this year. The Mustangs were able to go 17-4 from a year ago including a title in Little Hawkeye Conference play, but know that they will have their work cut out for them if they hope to return.
The Mustangs lost four key players from their team from a year ago, but will be returning the majority of their starters, and should have one of the more experienced teams in the state. Seniors Kendall Bickford and Jacob Ewers are back, Bickford scoring 24 goals last year and Ewers 15. They also will have junior Konnor May back after being in the team last year in assists at 12.
This is a senior heavy group with nine on the roster this year, as DCG will be looking to be atop again in the Little Hawkeye Conference and put up a good record as they navigate a difficult schedule.
Boys soccer will be having their first game of the year on Friday, April 1st against the Ballard Bombers on the road, as DCG will be looking for a great two months of play with hopes of finding a way back to Des Moines.
