With the first round of severe weather impacting the state, there are multiple storm spotter training classes coming up soon to help people be more weather aware.

The Dallas County Emergency Management Agency will be hosting the National Weather Service (NWS) for a SKYWARN basic spotter training in-person class beginning at 7 p.m. March 15th. The course is free to attend.

Also, Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Agency will be hosting a free storm spotter training class at the Menlo Community Center at 6 p.m. March 16th.

There are also virtual options from the National Weather Service to attend storm spotter training with dates of  7 p.m. March 23rd and 1 p.m. March 30th. The courses will give those attending knowledge on what to look for with a severe storm and how to report in to the NWS.

Anytime there is severe weather in Dallas, Guthrie or Greene counties Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team will provide live coverage of the storms until they drop below severe levels or move out of the listening area.
