The Greene County High School boys’ track & field athletes had their first competition of the season on Tuesday. It was inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls at the A.D. Dickinson Relays, a one-class non-scoring meet with schools of all sizes from different parts of the state competing. The Rams competed in 12 events throughout the afternoon and evening and had three top 10 finishes.
Two Greene County seniors had individual high finishes, as did the 4 x 400 meter relay. Long jumper Bryce Stalder was third at 21′ 3″ and senior Jackson Morton was sixth in the 60 meter hurdles final in 8.50 seconds after qualifying third in the prelims at 8.45 seconds. Those two, plus senior Nate Black and junior Richard Daugherty were seventh in the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3:40.54.
Coach Chad Morton reports Jackson Morton was fifth in the hurdles race with a new indoor school record, and he also reported new indoor school records in the 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 meter relays. “This looks to be a very exciting year,” he added.
