Greene County FFA earned high marks at this past weekend’s district competition.

Advisor Raelyn Harris says 18 students competed at Carroll High School on Saturday. Highlights from the contest included Adam Hooper, Daniele Madsen and Lane Fields earning a gold award for the Greenhand Quiz, Jackson Turner receiving a gold award for the Farm Business Management Quiz and Max Riley, Madison Grow and Carmyn Paup were recognized with the Academic Achievement award.

As for Experience the Action, Chapter Program and Ag Broadcasting with Emma Halterman they each earned a silver award. Additionally, Grace Curtis received a silver award and was alternate for the Treasurer Book. Harris talks about how these competitions are just one step in the overall FFA program that helps youth develop life skills.

“It’s really sweet to see how the progress has progressed from not just being for farmers, but being for people who want to succeed in their careers, in building their communication, their leadership skills, (while) all enhancing their resumes and scholarships that they could potentially get as well.”

Unfortunately, none of the events from Saturday will get to advance to the state contest that is held next month in Ames. Click the link below to see the full results from the district contest.
