The season officially wrapped up Panorama Panthers girls basketball team and it’s time to look back on what was an extremely successful season for the Panthers.

The Panthers girls were looking to make their way back into the postseason as in the 2020-21 season the Panthers girls fell to the Cherokee Washington Braves by a score of 74-46 in the Class 3A Region 1 Championship game which ended their season.

The 2021-22 season saw the Panthers competing in Class 2A basketball and the Panthers girls were dominant all season long. The Panthers girls finished this season with an overall record of 25-2, including the postseason, and they won the West Central Activities Conference and had an undefeated record in conference play.

The Panthers girls found themselves in the postseason again where they rattled off wins against the Interstate 35 Roadrunners and Central Decatur Cardinals which put them in the Region 7 Championship game where they aimed to avenge their lone regular season loss which was to the Nodaway Valley Wolverines. The Panthers beat the Wolverines by a score of 58-41 which sent them to the state tournament in Des Moines.

The Panthers girls took on the Iowa City Regina Regals in the Class 2A State Quarterfinal Round where they picked a 46-38 victory. The Panthers girls then moved to the semifinal round where they faced off against the Dike-New Hartford Wolverines who got the best of the Panthers by score of 67-23 and the DNH Wolverines went on to win the 2A State Championship game.

The Panthers girls continued their storied success winning 25 games throughout the season with a sparkling .926 win percentage. While the tournament didn’t end the way they had hoped for the Panorama Panthers girls their performance in the postseason capped off a phenomenal season of success.

The Panthers girls will be returning plenty of talent next year but will be saying goodbye to some outstanding seniors who played in four straight regional championship games in Laci Rishel, Gabby Welberg, Angel Poldberg and Payton Beckman who was also named as an Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union All-Tournament player.
