Greene County begins the high school indoor track & field season today at the A.D. Dickinson Relays in Cedar Falls. Coach Derek Merk has entered five events in the one class, non-scoring statewide meet. The Rams plan on individuals throwing the shot, as well as running 60 meters, 200 meters, and 400 meters. The only relay the Rams entered is the 4 x 200.
It’s a young Greene County team with only one senior, a foreign exchange student, but several juniors return as letter winners. One of those with State Meet experience is Olivia Shannon, who comments about what the prospects look like for this season. “I think it’s going to be good. We have a good group of girls out with a lot of returners and also some fresh faces, and I think there’s a lot of potential.”
The boys A.D. Dickinson Relays in the UNI-Dome is tomorrow and Coach Chad Morton plans on taking several Rams to that.
