After a good performance at the regional competition, the Perry High School Decathlon team is participating in the state competition today and tomorrow.
The Perry High School Decathlon team is heading to Mason City today to take part in the two-day state competition. Decathlon Coach Teresa Kresse says the students will follow a theme during the competition.
“This year’s theme is Water: An Essential Resource. So, whether the students were studying science or math or literature everything is connecting in some way to the major theme of water.”
Kresse tells Raccoon Valley Radio throughout the competition the students will participate in various activities including attending sessions and taking tests and participating in a quiz bowl. Kresse talks about the end of the competition.
“Then after the quiz bowl, the kids get a break, they find out immediately who the best team was in the quiz bowl and then there’s a little bit of break and then we have a banquet and the students find out the winners that day at the end of the entire competition.”
