The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.
During open forum, it was mentioned that the four finalists were selected for Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community Ring Out for Art contest. The Supervisors held a discussion concerning the height of some of the sculptures and agreed to implement in the resolution the Board will need to pass declaring this year’s finalists, to also include an inspection before the sculpture can be erected to ensure public safety. A resolution must be passed each year for the Ring Out for Art contest, as per the county’s public art policy.
The Board then approved changing Dan Nation from a full time to a part time employee with the Secondary Roads Department, as well as increasing the hourly wage for part time employee Randy Fox. Both positions will each be paid $22 per hour.
Additionally, the Board held a public hearing and approved a resolution for the maximum property tax dollars for the 2023 fiscal year budget. This is required by state law to have a public hearing if the property tax dollars are more than two-percent from the previous fiscal year. The general services levy will increase by $316,960 for a 6.92-percent compared to the 2022 fiscal year, and the rural services levy will also increase by $43,881 for a 2.36-percent. Finally, the Board set a public hearing for March 14th at 9am for the 2023 fiscal year budget.
