As Tegan Slaybaugh made his run in the state tournament there was a special moment between Head Coach Lane Rumelhart and Assistant Coach Kris Lehman.
Slaybaugh was in the quarterfinal round facing Easton Schlabaugh from Highland Riverside and Slaybaugh came from behind in the third period and won. ISHAA twitter account took a picture of Coaches Rumelhart and Lehman hugging while being very excited for their wrestler.
“Yeah, that moment was intense. Tegan was down, we knew we had to beat that kid to get to the semis, for sure place. And he can hit an awesome move, turn back into the guy, stuck him on his back, held him for a long time. I was getting amped up. The ref ended up finally calling the fall and Kris and I, we went a little nuts there for a little bit. Scott Reiser, from KCCI and it was just a really, really special moment.”
