A barn was destroyed from a weekend fire in Greene County.
Greene County Sheriff and Jefferson Fire Chief Jack Williams says the Jefferson, Scranton and Ralston fire departments, along with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the structure fire at 316 225th Street at 1:52pm Saturday. Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio when they arrived on scene, the barn had burned to the ground. He notes there were skid loaders and other farm equipment that were lost in the fire, however no one was hurt in the incident.
Williams points out due to the extent of damage in the accidental fire, the cause is undetermined. Crews were on scene for about 45 minutes to prevent the fire from spreading to other nearby structures. According to Greene County Assessor records, the property is owned by Jeff and Rhonda Baker.
