The Jefferson Water/Streets/Sewer/Sanitation Committees met Tuesday.

The Water Committee agreed and recommended to the City Council for approval to purchase the ArcGIS system to convert all utilities to a digital map, including water mains, curb boxes, among others. The work will be done by engineering firm Bolten and Menk for a total of $74,370, with payment to come from the water and sewer capital improvement fund. The Water Committee also agreed and recommended to the Council a professional services agreement with Bolten and Menk for $2,500 for a water main replacement on Russell Street from Elm Street to the Wastewater Plant, using American Rescue Plan funds.

The Streets Committee allowed a request to use Lincoln Way from Wilson Avenue to the Raccoon River Valley Trail for the return of Market-2-Market Relay on May 14th from 4-10am. The committee recommended that local spokesperson Craig Berry present to the Council as well. The Streets Committee also discussed having an itemized list of plants and develop a planting agreement for East Lincoln Way. The committee decided to have a discussion with Police Chief Mark Clouse about a traffic concern at East Washington Street with the intersection of Locust and Olive streets.
