The WCV girls basketball team started the postseason on the road to battle AC/GC.
The Wildcats were riding the momentum of three game win streak to end the regular season. Including a win over the Chargers. This time it would be a little different as this is a win or go home scenario in the playoffs.
This game was a hard fought defensive struggle all the way through. WCV came out with a huge first quarter. They took a big 18-5 lead after one. Senior Madelyn Jaeger took over the game early on scoring all of WCV’s 18 first quarter points. The scoring slowed down the rest of the game though. It was only a 27-12 WCV lead heading into the break. The third was also defensive struggle. AC/GC managed to outscore WCV 7-5, making a 32-19 game heading into the fourth.
AC/GC tried to mount a comeback in the fourth putting up seven points but it wasn’t enough. WCV pulled off a big upset and won this one 39-26. The Wildcats will advance to play Treynor on Friday. It’ll be in Treynor with tipoff set for 7pm.
