state-wrestling-2019

The state wrestling tournament will begin this week with many athletes from Guthrie County participating.

In Class 1A Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center High School had Tegan Slaybaugh qualify at 113 pounds for the second time in his career. AC/GC Head Wrestling Coach Lane Rumelhart tells Raccoon Valley Radio that being at the state tournament before is a big advantage.

“Definitely helps this year having the experience last year knowing kind of what it’s all about. It can be a little shocking your first time walking down there from out of town, coming out of the tunnel, looking up at the crowds and hearing the noise. So it’s nice knowing he’s been there before. Focus 100 percent just on the wrestling.”

Also Panorama High School’s Tage Monaghan was able to qualify at 113 pounds, James Hein moved on to the state tournament for the 195 pound class and Cooper Anderson was able to move on in the 220 pound class.
