A state grant is available for landowners that don’t have a current sewer system.

The Iowa Finance Authority has the Water Infrastructure Fund for residential or commercial properties that are not served by a centralized sewer system. Eligible applicants must not have a septic tank replaced within the last six years.

Greene County Sanitarian Chuck Wenthold says there is a total of $10 million in this grant program and properties in Cooper, Farlin and Dana in the county would be eligible to apply. The grants are on a first come, first served basis. Grants that are awarded could pay 100% of the design, permitting and construction costs.

Applicants must contact Wenthold to submit the application. Contact Wenthold at 515-386-5669.
