The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office will receive funds for an everyday need.

Guthrie County will receive just over $2.1 million from the American Rescue Plan Act funds and a portion of that will go to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office for new body cameras. Sheriff Marty Arganbright says the deputies started wearing body cameras every day about eight years ago and it’s been a critical part of their job.

It helps, (the) officer, if someone says, ‘Well, they did this or that,’ it’s all recorded, so you know, the recorder doesn’t lie (and) is good evidence and it protects everyone, really.”

Arganbright says these upgrades to their body cameras will help them phase out old equipment. According to the Sheriff’s Office, these purchases would use roughly $90,000 of the ARPA funds.
