While the flu season continues, people may be wondering if it is too late to become vaccinated against the flu.

Dallas County Health Department Public Information Officer Ann Cochran says the flu season typically peaks during February.

“If you haven’t gotten your flu vaccination yet go ahead and get one as soon as you can. Flu vaccine is widely available at local pharmacies or clinics. It is wise to call ahead in case you need an appointment.”

Cochran tells Raccoon Valley Radio places where you could get a flu vaccination in Dallas County also includes Hy-Vee pharmacies along with other pharmacies.

“Wherever you usually go for your pharmaceutical things you can just go ahead and call them and ask if you can get in for a flu shot. You can also go to your regular clinic, the thing to keep in mind for that is you may be charged an office visit for that visit to your clinic, but that is something to ask about.”

Cochran says if the office visit fee would prevent you from getting the flu vaccination she would encourage people to go to a place that would not have an office visit fee.
