Time is running out for nominations for a Greene County annual award.

The Bell Tower of Fame recognizes an individual who at some point in their lives have lived or is living in Greene County and whose personal or professional accomplishments statewide, nationally or internationally has brought great pride to Greene County. Last year’s recipients were the President and CEO of the Food Bank of Iowa and 1979 graduate of Jefferson High School Michelle Book and a 1965 Jefferson High School graduate and notable historian, the late Tom Morain. 

The first recipients of the award included George Gallup of the Gallup Polls and astronaut from Paton Loren Shriver.

Nominations must be submitted by February 18th at 4pm to the Welcome Center in Jefferson. The selection committee evaluates previously submitted nominations as well as new ones. This year’s winner will be announced ahead of the opening ceremonies for the Bell Tower Festival. Click the link below to access the nomination form.
