An Iowa representative spoke at a rally at the Statehouse in Des Moines last week and towards the end of his speech, he made an obscene gesture directed at  the crowd.

Republican Representative Bobby Kaufmann of Wilton spoke to a crowd regarding a call for the Convention of the States to deal with federal overreach and to make his point “flipped off,” as a gesture toward the federal government. Representative for House District Ray Sorensen says Kaufman is passionate about standing up for the needs of Iowans. He explains that it’s not for him to judge his behavior, it is the job of the voters.

You know, for me, I  post the memes in my newsletter, you know, I’m sure not every legislator across the country does something like that. You know, I think we’re all individuals and you know, it’s ultimately the great thing. It’s up to the voters as long as we can continue to keep, you know, free fair elections going. We’re going to be just fine.”

Sorensen says that it is nice to see some realness from legislators but also every lawmaker needs to know who they’re representing.
