Greene County High School is preparing to host its second consecutive year for a statewide event.

The Iowa High School Music Association State Jazz Choir Festival is Monday, February 7th at the high school auditorium in Jefferson. Director Dave Heupel says this event last year was technically the first-ever event held in the new auditorium. Greene County’s own Ram Jive will compete, along with ten other high schools. Heupel tells Raccoon Valley Radio the 13-member and four person rhythm section ensemble will perform three songs, including “September In The Rain,” arranged by Kerry Marsh, “One For My Baby,” arranged by Paris Rutherford and “Cinnamon and Clove,” arranged by Michele Weir

Heupel says because this is a festival, schools are competing against a rating system. The first performance will be at 4pm and the final show is at 9:30pm with Perry High School. Ram Jive will perform at 8pm. Admission is $7, $5 for senior citizens and $3 for students. Heupel encourages everyone to watch the State Jazz Choir Festival and support Ram Jive.
