The Greene County School Board met in special session Wednesday night.
The Board met to initiate the search process for finding a new superintendent with consulting firm McPhearson & Jacobson. A timeline was established that includes a community input meeting, accepting applications until March 2nd, the Board to select three finalists by March 23rd and the interviews will take place in early April.
Current Superintendent Tim Christensen is resigning following the end of the current school year on June 30th. He made the announcement official at the regular January School Board meeting. Christensen talks about why he wanted to submit his resignation well ahead of the end of the school year.
“As we look at education in general, it doesn’t matter what position it is, there’s not as many people going into education, going into the various positions as there has been in the past. We had a lot of success last year hiring replacements for our teachers because we were able to get on top of it in January. I felt I owed that to the (School) Board, the community, the school and everything in order to give as much time as possible, because there are a lot of superintendent openings right now and we want to be able to get the best candidate possible.”
The community input meeting will be held on February 16th at 5:30pm at the middle school auditorium.
