2020 Greene County High School graduate Carter Morton was named the Missouri Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week for his performance in the heptathlon Jan. 20-21. Morton, a sophomore at the U. of Northern Iowa won the event at the John Jennett Invitational inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, setting personal bests in six of the seven events and totaling 5,350 points, which topped the MVC and was eleventh in the nation.

On Jan. 28 at the Wartburg College (Waverly) Friday Night Lights Invitational, Morton set a PR in the pole vault at 14′ 1″ and tied for third place. He is the son of Chad and Deb Morton of Jefferson.
