When the weather turns bitterly cold, residents in Dallas County may look for a warm place to go.
Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator A.J. Seely says there are various designated warming centers throughout Dallas County which includes local libraries such as the Perry, Minburn, Dallas Center and Adel libraries among others.
“Really, those places are just warming centers to help people, maybe if they are concerned about utility costs at home and keeping it a comfortable temperature they can go there to those warming centers during the day and keep a little bit warmer than they otherwise might be staying.”
Seely tells Raccoon Valley Radio one important thing people should note about the warming centers is that they don’t typically offer anymore services than what might already be available in the building.
“Definitely want to take something to do an activity or use the services that are in that building if you find yourself in that situation.”
