In the spirit of learning about more wildlife in Dallas County, an organization will be hosting a series of events coming up soon.
The Dallas County Conservation Board recently announced programming that will take place on January 17th, 18th and 20th at the Hanging Rock shelter house in Redfield. The programs will be held from 6-7 p.m. and 7:30-8:30 p.m. on the 17th and 18th, and 11 a.m. to noon, 12:30-1:30 p.m. and 2-3 p.m. on the 20th.
The programs will allow for participants to join the Board to meet Strix the Barred Owl. Naturalists will discuss owl species which are common in Dallas County, how they adapt to nighttime hunting and an introduction to their calls.
The evening programs will feature an Owl Prowl hike on the trails at Hanging Rock to see if a barred owl could be spotted.Registration is required.
