A rivalry was renewed on Friday night in Adel, as Adel-DeSoto-Minburn and Winterset squared off, with the two teams splitting, the girls winning 50-44 and the boys falling 61-51. The girls improve to 6-6 on the year while Winterset drops to 6-3, while ADM boys fall to 5-5 and Winterset improves to 6-3.
The girls game was a wild back and forth affair that was based on runs, with ADM using at 9-0 run to start the game and took a 28-17 lead into the locker room. Winterset was not done, as they used a big second half run to take a 39-35 lead with 5 minutes to go, but ADM was able to end the game on a 15-5 run to end the game and pick up a major victory. Junior Nicole Storek was able to lead the Tigers with 22 points, as ADM was able to score at least 50 points in their fourth straight game, with all of those games being wins.
The boys game saw an ADM team have a great first half on the defensive end, as they held a high scoring Winterset team to 16 points, taking a 7 point lead to halftime. The second half wasn’t as kind to the Tigers, as turnovers lead to transition layups for the Huskies, as they were able to outscore the Tigers 19-9 in the final few minutes. Sophomore Brevin Doll was able to lead the Tigers in scoring.
For both of these ADM teams, their next two games will be on the road, as they continue Raccoon River Conference play on with a tough road game against Carroll on Tuesday night.
