Officer Irving and K9 Ally

A local police department officially announced the start of its K-9 unit. After not having a K-9 unit for four years, the Stuart Police Department brought back it’s return with canine  Ally, a 18-month-old German shepherd mix. According to the police department, Ally is trained in narcotics detection and tracking and her handler will be Officer Daniel Irving. Officer Irving tells Raccoon Valley Radio he hopes the community embraces their new addition.

Looking forward to getting out on the streets with Aly, and if anybody sees me and (would) like to stop and meet the dog, definitely I encourage anybody to stop me and we can make that happen.”

The police department thanks everyone who donated from private citizens, businesses, along with a grant from  the Empowering Adair County Foundation. The police department will continue to accept donations throughout the year for ongoing costs like veterinarian care, training and a bulletproof vest.
