In 2021 the City of Perry undertook a solar project which is continuing into this year with noticeable progress.

The goal for the City by installing solar panels on its facilities is to offset the electrical use. City Administrator Sven Peterson says in the beginning of 2022 a lot of the work has been completed.

“All of the infrastructure is in place, and even a few of our facilities are hooked in and running on solar power. So, from here on out it’s just a matter of the electricians getting in, pulling wire from each solar facility into the buildings and then tying that into our buildings and getting it hooked up to the meter.”

Peterson tells Raccoon Valley Radio the contractor, Red Lion Renewables, has been good to work with throughout the project. Peterson talks about a future solar project.

“The next phase of our solar sustainability project would be our partnership with Alliant Energy with their customer-hosted solar program at the Brownfield property.”

Peterson is looking forward to the completion of these solar projects.
