Greene County’s High School football program will be well represented at the 2022 Shrine Bowl All-Star Football Game July 23 inside the air-conditioned UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. Caden Duncan, the Rams’ head coach, will be a South team assistant, and Ram player Bradyn Smith, a senior at Paton-Churdan High School, has been chosen as one of the players for the South. Greene County and Paton-Churdan have sharing programs in place for several sports including football.
Smith twice earned All-State honors in Class 2A as a linebacker and he also played offensive guard. He was twice named a team Captain and was instrumental in the Rams winning Class 2A District 8, being ranked as high as third, and finishing 8-2 last fall.
Smith talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about his reaction to being chosen. “It’s a super cool honor. At first I wasn’t really away of it, but then when I learned about it and how selective it can be, I was super excited, very honored.”
All proceeds from the game benefit Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals whose motto is “Strong Legs Run So Weak Legs May Walk.”
