The snow and ice on the roadways could leave some motorists stranded this winter season.

Emergency Management Coordinator for  Adair and Guthrie Counties Bob Kempf says all motorists should be prepared for the worst. He advises  making sure motorists have extra jackets and clothes in their vehicles and snacks in case of an emergency.

Well, you can carry a collapsible shovel, kitty litter or sand is a good thing if you’re stuck on ice to put under your tires to help get you out. But if you do get stranded, it’s best to contact somebody to let them know where you’re at. That you are stuck and then not to go wandering away from your vehicle.”

He says that when a person wanders away from their vehicle they can get lost and easily get hypothermia.
