A Guthrie County entertainment staple could be closing in May if it isn’t purchased in the near future.
Gutterz Bowl & Lounge co-owner Carmen Atkinson and her husband tell Raccoon Valley Radio that the doors to the popular bowling alley will close on May 12th if it isn’t sold before then. Atkinson explains why…
“We have a situation where we’re taking care of a Spina Bifida son who might go into dialysis, and then we also have two moms that are in their 90s that we’re taking care of, so let’s just say that we’re overworked.”
Atkinson has been the co-owner of Gutterz for the past nine years, and she says the business remains successful. While her time as owner may be up and she’s sad to say goodbye, Atkinson hopes somebody will come in to buy the alley because she knows just how much is means to the community.
“This whole Guthrie County would be losing a fun place for the whole family to come and enjoy. I mean it’s not just for the kids and all that, but they would really be losing a lounge–a family-friendly lounge–and restaurant, and… I just don’t know. It would be a shame to see this close.”
Any area residents with questions about Gutterz possibly closing its doors can contact Atkinson at 641-757-0837.
