The Guthrie County Supervisors recently approved giving county employees extra money for working during the pandemic this year.
The Board approved the payment would give $2,500 to full time employees and $1,250 to part-time employees that have worked under 32 hours and employed before December 14th to receive funding. Guthrie County District 5 Supervisor Mike Dickson says they came up with the amount from the committee that was formed to manage the federal funds that the county received. Dickson explains the reason behind why the Supervisors approved paying extra money to those eligible employees.
“Yes, during the pandemic and continuing here, our employees have worked through at all government entities, we’re not available for PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) money and local businesses, and they were all available for PPE money to pay their employees. And I guess this was the federal government’s way of giving government entities a similar way to do that.”
Dickson says they’re opening up the premium pay to school and hospital workers as a grant process and apply for the money through the county. He adds that employees that worked in 2021r for the county but are no longer there are not eligible to receive the additional pay.
