Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tigers soccer has had some wonderful teams under the direction of coach Bill Shields, and 2021 was no different, as the Tigers were able to go 15-5 on the season and qualify for the state soccer tournament as well, where they went 15-5 and finished as a state semifinalist.
The Tigers were able to finish 2nd in the Raccoon River Conference with a 8-1 record, and were also able to pick up some nice winning streaks throughout the year with 3, 4, and 6 game winning streaks, as they played good soccer throughout the majority of the season. 11 of the 15 Tiger wins on the year were shutouts, as the team was able to make their mark on the defensive side of the ball throughout the year while have good attacks on the offensive side as well.
The team was able to defeat Glenwood and Creston in shutout victories in districts. They defeated Pella 2-1 in state quarterfinal action before eventually bowing out to the state champion Cedar Rapids – Xavier 2-0 in the semifinals.
Tiger soccer will have some wonderful talent coming back for the 2022 team, as they were able to put up a great year last year, and will have a high bar to reach if they want to achieve similar success in 2022.
