Now that it’s winter and many people are staying in their homes, health experts say it’s important to stay active.

Guthrie County Health Services Director Jotham Arber says when it’s cold out there are temptations to not be as active indoors. Arber explains some ideas to keep healthy during the winter.

There are a lot of things that we can do instead of watching a two hour long movie, maybe we shorten that down and then we do some exercise in the house and I’m not talking about having to have a lot of exercise equipment laying around. I’m talking about maybe just walking up and down a flight of stairs, you know, making sure that we’re drinking plenty of water, not eating just cookies. You can do sit ups and crunches and all of those kind of, you know, things that you don’t need any sort of exercise equipment with.”

Arber says another great resource is online workout videos and getting a gym membership.
